Our Packaging: Biodegradable

Wasteful packaging drives us crazy. If we could package our coffees in reusable glass jars we would. Our coffee is currently packaged in paper bags that have a PLA lining made from corn. These are biodegradable in an industrial composting facility and we realize that not everyone has access to such facilities.

We also offer our customers the choice of a foil bag with a one-way valve that prolongs the coffee’s freshness. The valve works like a cork in a wine bottle. The down side of these bags is that they are not compostable.

Keeping continuous improvement in mind, we are working hard to find new and better ways to package our coffees while preserving their freshness. Fortunately, there is a new bag technology currently in the design stage that will offer the best balance between product freshness and a reduced environmental footprint. These bags would be fully compostable in a home unit and include a one-way valve. We will keep you posted.
