Spring Has Sprung

Changing Weather

It's hard to believe that just a week ago we were cross country skiing. Now, all the snow is melted, and we're wondering how St. Joseph Island's maple syrup producers will fare during this unusually warm March and maple syrup season.

New! Spring Morning Breakfast Blend

Our third seasonal coffee is on the shelves this week. Its label features another painting by Heather, "Otter Lake Road".

The vibrant colours in this painting match the vibrant taste in the new blend. This is a medium roast with big body and a sweet, nutty aroma. Its taste is refreshing, with hints of lemon, black current and milk chocolate. Click here to order.

St. Joseph Island's 45th Maple Syrup Festival

Mark your calendars for this year's Maple Syrup Festival, Saturdays and Sundays, April 7th and 8th, and April 14th and 15th. This will be our third year to donate coffee for the all-day breakfasts. Shane will be on-site again selling various coffees and teas, and to answer any coffee-related questions you may have brewing about in your minds. Shane enjoys this annual event as a way to be involved with the community we live in, while catching up with the familiar faces and meeting new faces.

The festival runs each day between the hours of 8:00 am and 6:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 374. The all-you-can-eat breakfasts include pancakes, sausages, St. Joseph Island Maple Syrup, fairtrade coffee (provided by us!), tea, and orange juice. Prices are $4.00 for children 10 and under, $7.00 for seniors, and $8.00 for adults. Local craftspeople will have items for sale, and there will be maple candy and maple syrup available for sale by various St. Joseph Island Producers. The Children's Library will have used books for sale as a fundraiser, too.

During the Maple Syrup Festival, several of the maple syrup producers on the island open their sugar bushes and operations for tours. Look for the signs while you're here, and enjoy!
